Degas
01:53
|

Degas, Degas
The morning sunshine lights the scene
The dancers gather here serene
All sketched in charcoal line
Degas, Degas
The ruffled dress each dancer wears
'Neath airy windows, spiral stairs
And boards of golden pine
Degas, Degas
Degas, Degas
The old man drawn in shades of brown
Peers through the gloomy wash surround
His eyes still piercing bright
Degas, Degas
The master here explains the dance
Expressing with his face and hands
This ballet of delight
Degas, Degas
I see beyond the shadows
The hours of toil and pain
That bring to life such beauty
And make it breathe again
Degas, Degas
The morning sunbeams light the scene
The gallery is full again
Which picture d'you prefer?
Degas, Degas
He stood aloof, he scratched his head
This enigmatic man who said
'La ligne est mon couleur'
Degas, Degas

Champagne Friend
01:24
|
|||
Time after time, we've sat this way
So little time, so much to say
You talk to me, I talk to you
We sit and work our troubles through
My champagne friend, we sit tonight
And toast misfortune, gesundheit!
Sometimes I see the answer to
the puzzle that is beating you
Sometimes you find a strategy
Tos solve a problem troubling me
My champagne friend, we sit tonight
And toast misfortune, gesundheit!
Just like the wind, we'll sway and bend
Until the end, my champagne friend.

Three Of Them
01:24
|
|||
Three of them lay in the bed
Her lover, herself, and him in her head
Goodnight, her lover said
Goodnight!
Please oh please, don't come out to play
Stay hidden away, stay hidden away
Everyday thoughts don't torture this way
Stay hidden away, stay hidden away!
Three of them lay in the bed
Her lover, herself, and him in her head
Goodnight, her lover said
Goodnight!
I love you, I hate you, I want you, I don't
I want to make love with you, I know I can't
Get out of my heart and get out of my head
Get out of my body, get out of my bed!
Three of them lay in the bed
Her lover, herself, and him in her head
Goodnight, her lover said
Goodnight my lover, goodnight!

Hare
00:53
|
|||
Hare
Leaping through the fields of green
Powerful and lean
In the springtime
Hare
In the distance, you're in flight
Swift and feather-light
In the sunshine
Lost in a blink you jump so fast
Springing over the tumbling grass
Oh
It's your shyness I adore
And your wildness even more
So wonderful to see
You're so free
You're a Mad March Hare

Start At The End
01:35
|
|||
Shall we start at the end and work backwards from there
It’s more easy than finding our way through the fog
That obscures all the good things and hides them from sight
Turns true love to dust, and turns day into night.
It was easy before when unhappiness reigned
To embrace the familiar, the hurt and the pain
It was easy to love them and treat them as friends
Not so easy for those who begin at the end
So tell me our future, oh what will it be
Can we throw off the demons that darken our days
Free ourselves from the patterns that turn us away
From the hope that can surely turn night into day
Starting a story is easy to do
But finding the ending, well that’s up to you.

You've no idea how it feels to me at my time of life
To hold a young baby in these arms of mine
My pacemaker's ticking my heart to the grave
But new life's reminding an old man that he can smile.
My roll-up's a part of my smoke-pickled face
My flat cap's askew and my specs need a clean
I don't like anyone who wan't born in my street
But here is your baby so small and so sweet.
New life, new life
New life, new life
That's right, new life
The baby and the old, old man
He died on our doorstep that dull Christmas Eve
A man full of hatred, a man full of love
A baby reached through to the human inside
His eyes filled with tears at the sight of new life.
New life, new life
New life, new life
That's right, new life
The baby and the old, old man

Swifts
02:00
|
|||
I'm dreaming of migrating birds
That fly from Africa
To build their nests in chilly northern climes
Sailing on the song of nature
Gliding on magnetic fields
Their journey mapped out from archaic times.
Cruel invaders shot the friendly dodos
Curious of the strangers, they just came to say hello, who are you?
Living beings are built to move
Though humans sit and watch them
On an animated screen at home
Giving wings to flightless beings
Might seem just like a flight of fancy
From an optimistic aerodrome
Cruel invaders shot the friendly dodos
Curious of the strangers, they just came to say hello, who are you?
Just like birds, migrating humans
Flow away from danger
So don't greet them with angry, hateful words
If we make a hostile world
We make our neighbours strangers
We'l make ourselves extinct
Like ancient birds
Cruel invaders shot the friendly dodos
Curious of the strangers, they just came to say hello, who are you?

You bad girl, you mean chick!
Oh, your cruel mouth, your tough talk, your harsh words!
You bad girl, you mean chick!
Mmm, na na!
